One of the menus that you must try is satay. With materials that are easy to find and affordable prices, you can enjoy grilling activities while creating memorable moments
The satay menu is also one of the favorite dishes of most Indonesian people. This makes it a suitable choice to enjoy on New Year’s Eve.
The following is a satay recipe that can accompany New Year’s celebrations with warmth and joy.
1. Grilled Tofu Meatball Satay
Ingredients:
- White tofu
- Beef meatballs
- Cooking oil
- Skewers
Spread Ingredients:
- 1-2 tbsp tomato sauce
- 2-4 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 1-2 tablespoons cooking oil
- ½ tsp stock powder

How to make:
- Cut the tofu into 4 pieces, then fry until cooked.
- Fry the meatballs until half cooked.
- Skewer the tofu and meatballs that have been fried with satay sticks.
- Mix all the spread ingredients. Spread the mixture on the tofu satay and meatballs until evenly distributed.
- Let stand for about 15 minutes until the flavors are absorbed.
- After the spices are absorbed, grill the tofu satay and meatballs until cooked while continuing to rub with the spice rub.
- When it’s cooked, remove the tofu satay and meatballs, then serve with accompaniments such as tomatoes, chili sauce, sweet soy sauce and lime.
2. Balanga Grilled Satay, Typical of Gorontalo
Ingredients:
- 300 gr goat meat, cut into cubes
- 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 1-2 stalks of lemongrass, crushed
- 3-4 lime leaves
- 2-3 pandan leaves
- 1 tbsp salt
- 500 ml water
Ground spices:
- 13 red onion cloves
- 8 cloves of garlic
- 3 candlenuts, roasted
- 3 turmeric segments, roasted
How to make:
- Saute ground spices in hot oil until fragrant.
- Add the goat meat pieces, then cook until half cooked.
- Add water, pandan leaves, salt and soy sauce. Cook until the meat is tender and the spices thicken.
- Skewer the cooked meat with satay sticks, then grill until black.
3. Grilled Chicken Intestine Satay
Ingredients:
- 1 kg chicken intestines
- 2 limes
Intestine Stew Ingredients:
- 2 stalks lemongrass, crushed
- 1½ pieces of ginger, crushed
- 7 lime leaves
Ground spices:
- 10 red onion cloves
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 5 candlenuts, roasted
- 1 turmeric segment, roasted
- ½ tsp coriander, roasted
- ½ tsp ground pepper
Complementary Seasonings:
- 4 stalks lemongrass, crushed
- 4 bay leaves
- 6 lime leaves
- To taste sweet soy sauce
- Sufficient sugar, salt and stock powder
- Enough water
- Oil to taste
Burning Seasoning:
- 7 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 3 tbsp oil
How to make:
- Wash the intestines until the dirt is gone. Add lime juice to reduce the fishy smell.
- Boil the intestines with the stew ingredients until cooked.
- Blend the spices, then saute until fragrant. Add a little water, sugar, salt, soy sauce and stock powder.
- Add the intestines to the stir-fried spices, cook until the water dries up.
- Skewer the intestines with a skewer, rub with spices, then grill until cooked.
4. Grilled Skin Satay
Ingredients:
- ½ kg chicken skin
- 2 limes/lemon
- 5 cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 2 dry bay leaves
- 4 lime leaves
- 250 ml water
- Sufficient skewers
- To taste salt, stock powder and seasoning
- Enough oil
Rubbing Seasoning:
- 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- ½ tsp pepper
How to make:
- Wash the chicken skin thoroughly, then add lemon juice to reduce the fishy smell. Leave it for 10-15 minutes.
- Saute the spices until fragrant, add water, oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce and stock powder.
- Add the chicken skin, stir until the skin releases oil. Lift and drain.
- Cut the chicken skin according to taste, skewer using a satay skewer.
- Grill chicken skin satay while smearing with spices until cooked.
5. Grilled Chicken Satay
Ingredients:
- 2 chicken thigh fillets
- 1 packet of instant roast chicken flavored seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
How to make:
- Cut the chicken to the size of the satay, marinate with salt and pepper, then skewer using a satay skewer.
- Preheat the grill, add a little oil, then grill the satay until half cooked.
- Brush the satay with instant seasoning mixed with a little water, turn over, and rub again on the other side.
- Bake until cooked, yellowish brown, and the spices adhere perfectly.
- Serve grilled chicken satay with soy sauce.
