1. Fatty fish

Fatty fish contains omega-3 fatty acids which are good for improving heart health.

The reason is, the omega-3 fatty acid content in it can reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and reduce triglycerides which are determining factors for heart health.

The omega-3 content also functions as a natural blood thinner, so that blood flow to the heart is smoother and the risk of blood vessel blockages is reduced.

Nutritionist Patricia Bannan recommends regular consumption of two types of fatty fish. For dinner, the expert recommends grilled salmon or mackerel with the addition of lemon and a sprinkling of herbs.

2. Green vegetables

Green leafy vegetables are the best food source. It contains antioxidants and potassium which can support heart health.

The magnesium in it can also help maintain normal heart rhythms and reduce the risk of arrhythmia.

Green vegetables also usually contain potassium which is good for lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease.

It is recommended to consume spinach and kale which contain lots of potassium to regulate blood pressure. These vegetables also contain nitrates which can improve blood vessel function.
