“The orange color of sweet potatoes indicates the content of beta-carotene, an antioxidant that is converted into vitamin A in the body,” said Allison Knott, a dietitian from New York.

Vitamin A is a nutrient needed by the body to prevent damage to the quality of vision by keeping the cornea hydrated and healthy. Vitamin A can also help prevent the development of cataracts in the eyes.

Nutritionists recommend consuming at least one medium-sized sweet potato every day. This method is considered effective in helping to meet 500% of daily vitamin A needs.

2. Control blood pressure

Many recommend reducing salt intake to keep blood pressure stable. In fact, consuming potassium will be more effective in controlling blood pressure in the body.

Knott explained that the potassium in sweet potatoes has an important role in regulating blood pressure. According to the National Institutes of Health, adults need to consume at least 450 milligrams of sweet potatoes every day.
